According to market trends, skin care is an 11 billion dollar industry in North America, and it’s an industry many companies want to be a part of.
The beauty counter at the drug store can be overwhelming. If you’re like me you, you love shiny, new labels, but we both know that has nothing to do with how good the product is.
Currently, I am working with a medical spa, so using at home beauty products like these is a conflict with my current skin care treatment plan, but I was confident I could find some eager reviewers for two of Silk’n newest products!
Test Product #1: Silk’n FaceFX
FaceFX is designed to improve skin texture, diminish wrinkles and fine lines and brighten skin colour. The at home device is designed to have immediate improvements with long lasting results. It retails for $159 Canadian.
Test Product #2: Silk’n ReVit
The Silk’n ReVit is an at home microdermabrasion device that’s designed to combine gentle microdermabrasion exfoliation with vacuum stimulation to reduce the appearance of age spots, fine lines and acne scars. The ReVit uses a gentle tip exfoliator to remove dead skin cells leaving you with improved skin tone, texture and elasticity. It retails for $99 Canadian.
So I had three volunteers to review these products for me!
- Erin (my friend) works in the medical industry, is a mom of two and is between 35-40 years old
- Janet (my sister) is a mom of three works in the insurance industry and is 44 years old
- Catherine (my mom) is a hard working very loving grandma to 11 grandkids
Erin’s Review of the Silk’n ReVit
So I have been using the Silk’n ReVit microdermabrasion wand for over a month now and I can honestly say I am really impressed! This is the first time I have ever used a product like this so I was pretty excited and a bit nervous at first about how my sensitive skin would react to the treatments. But like Michelle said it is very important to look after your skin especially when you reach a certain age (I’m in the 35-45 age range) so I tried it!
The instructions for use are very straightforward and easy to follow, and the kit provides large diagrams that show you exactly how to run the wand over different areas of your face (and even your hands) and in which direction to go. You have to make sure your face is clean and dry prior to the treatment and it takes about 5-10 minutes in total to complete. You rinse with cool water afterwards and then apply your usual moisturizer. (They recommend a Dead Sea one.)
Right after the first use I couldn’t believe how CLEAN and smooth my face felt. I also couldn’t believe what was in the filter after use… to say the least there was a lot of dead skin cells and dirt that did NOT need to be on my face ! There was only some mild redness that went away after a few minutes and now I don’t get any redness or irritation with continued use.
I started out with twice a week and at times I will do three treatments a week depending on how hectic my schedule is. I use it before bed and my face continues to feel smoother and looks healthier. I have even noticed some improvements in elasticity and fine lines!
I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in a convenient, easy to use, home skin care exfoliation system.
Thanks again Michelle for letting me trial this amazing product and learning about the importance of exfoliation. My skin thanks you! 😊
My sister, Janet is 44, and unlike myself, she isn’t as interested in beauty products, but she does love looking nice. Janet used the FaceFX and I should preface her review with, my sister doesn’t like tools that plug in, she has a phobia of electricity.
She will use them, because they are virtually impossible to avoid, but her fear of getting shocked does make her hesitant to try new things, but her sister convinced her to try it 😉
Janet’s Review of the Silk’n FaceFX
Me: What device did you try?
Janet: I used was FaceFX. The red one.
Me: How old are you?
Janet: I’m 44.
Me: What were you expecting from this product?
Janet: I really had no expectations. I didn’t know anything about it. I only used it because my sister introduced it to me!
Me: What kind of results did you see?
Janet: My results were good for the time that I used it. My skin appeared clearer, smoother and had a glow to it, but I must be honest I never used it regularly. I only used it three times for one week because I have a wee phobia of electronic devices on my skin.
Me: Were you happy with it?
Janet: Yes I was happy with the results so far, but I need to use it more to give it a full review.
Me: Despite not using it as often as you should have (gives her sister the “you’re in trouble” face) would you recommend it to someone else?
Janet: *eyeroll* Yes I would recommend it to friends. I did notice my skin was more dehydrated after use, so I would suggest using a good cream after using it.
Catherine’s Review of the Silk’n FaceFX
My experience with the face Silk’n FaceFX was good. When I first started using it I found it really rejuvenated and made my skin feel soft like a rough layer of dirt came off. I felt my skins texture changed a bit.
I am 64 and do not have great skin and was hoping I believe for a more “miracle” result but I believe age got me and there is a tiny improvement but nothing anyone would notice. I will continue to enjoy using FaceFX it but if I want a better result I will have to get a professional. I would recommend this tool to someone that doesn’t have wrinkles that are as deep as mine as I believe it will help keep their wrinkles down as they age.
It is a very simple and easy tool to use. Initial buy is a bit costly but no attachments of creams or product to purchase to go with it. I would recommend it because it does make your skin feel good…it is like having a pedicure when they take off the layers of dead skin.
Thanks so much to my reviewers. If you are interested in trying one of these products, comment below and let me know which one and why! *Winner has been chosen*
Happy skin care routine!
