Canada’s 150th birthday is July 1st, 2017.
To celebrate Confederation I thought it would great to chat with one of the most brilliant people I know.
Col. Rakesh Jetly is the Chief Psychiatrist of the Canadian Forces and the Mental Health Advisor to the Surgeon General. He is one of the minds behind the Road to Mental Readiness Program (R2MR) which was created to help soldiers be better prepared for battle and extreme situations and stress.
Mental health in the military is a delicate topic, and although we have made tremendous progress in recognizing the impact of psychological health, we are still far from fully understanding it.
This is Part 1 of a two part MF’s Trans Canada Nissan Drive By series with Col. Jetly that examines Canada’s history and future with mental health, both for military and for civilians. Watch for Part 2 coming soon!
