The world is a very different place for someone who is Deaf. Generally speaking, even in the most well-meaning person may take for granted their ability to hear, speak, and communicate with other people.

This week, Tammy Petraitis is in my Nissan Pathfinder, sharing the story of how she lost her hearing and the cochlear implant that changed her life. Her advice on how to make the world a kinder place for those who can’t hear is so incredibly valuable.

In the end, we can all help each other by being kind, non-judgemental, and willing to learn. When we know better, we do better.

Thank you to Trans Canada Nissan for sponsoring MF’s Drive By.
