Dan and I had the opportunity to visit Angela Lloyd at Millbrook Farm, Garden & Pet Supply. They’re giving back to the community and organizations that are near and dear to our hearts one bottle drive at a time.
When everything shut down, businesses and organizations began to struggle.COVID-19 has created a lot of chaos and uncertainty for many. However, this pandemic has also created a greater sense of gratitude and community.
Millbrook Farm, Garden & Pet Supply has been collecting empty alcohol bottles and using them to help local organizations. What a better way to help get rid of their bottles AND give back to the community all in one.
Angela and her team encouraged the people in their community to drop their empties off at the store and they’d be used to fundraise for organizations that were struggling during the pandemic.
Their first round of donations went to Community Care and they were able to donate $1,050. They were then able to raise $4,100 to help 2 young boys who had been diagnosed with cancer this summer.
This round of the bottle drive, the money raised is going to Kawartha Food Share. An organization that ensures reliable access to food in emergencies, making sure that food is available for those who need it. They provide snacks for school nutrition programs and help thousands of people eat every single month.
Not only did we get to support an awesome bottle drive and pet some cute dogs, we got to ride some pretty cool scooters!
Check out the video below to learn more about how you can help and see who wins the race.
Thank you to Peterborough Mitsubishi for driving us to the heart of the community.
