COVID-19 is changing the way childcare is facilitated as well as so many aspects of our daily lives. From getting groceries, going to work and socializing with people outside of your home, it’s all new and strange.

At the time of this interview, childcare providers were hearing news from the government at the same time everyone else was.

Ashley has been providing childcare for 13 years, and she is so scared about the future because of COVID-19. Navigating through a pandemic is its own challenge. As a mother of 4 and a childcare provider, it’s even more complex.

You spend so much time as a parent teaching your children to share and help their friends. Now, they have to be taught to stay 6 feet apart, don’t share and don’t hug. As a childcare provider, having more than one child in your care means you have to clean and disinfect everything one child has touched before it goes to the next. This is their new reality.

Listen to Ashley, join the conversation and let’s navigate this together, our children’s physical and mental health are critical. Many parents have the same fear; knowing that if their child gets sick while our world is in this state, they can’t go into the hospital with them. Since we recorded this interview, many policies have changed.

As always thank you to our sponsor JJ Stewart Motors for their continued support to share these important community stories.
