This summer I got the chance to sit down with Dylan and her mom Laurie and learn about DBA.
Dylan has a rare blood disorder called Diamond-Blackfan Anemia. “Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA) is a rare blood disorder that occurs when the bone marrow fails to make red blood cells, which are essential for carrying oxygen from the lungs to all the other parts of the body.”
Dylan is one of 3 people in Canada and one out of 1000 people worldwide diagnosed with DBA. A DBA diagnosis is typically before a child turns 1. She was diagnosed at just 6 months old.
DBA comes in varying degrees meaning some patients can actually go into remission. Some patients are transfusion dependant and need blood transfusions every 3-4 weeks.
Her Mom Laurie is doing all she can to raise both awareness and money for research and hopefully a cure. To donate and learn more about DBA, click HERE. Another way you can help is to donate blood.
Not only is Dylan adorable and incredible, she wants a cure. Share this video with a friend or two to help find a cure for DBA. -Thank you to my sponsor JJ Stewart Motors for their continued investment in sharing these stories.
