When I think of Lakefield, I don’t think think of an area in need. Unfortunately, that’s not true. Food insecurity affects 1 in 7 Canadians.
The Lakefield Community Food Bank operates out of St. Johns’s Church. Thanks to the leadership of Sandra Peacock and over 30 volunteers, dozens of families in need receive food on a weekly basis.
These volunteers work tirelessly to make great things happen. Whether it’s packing boxes, unloading food items from vehicles or sorting items, everyone plays an important role.
Each week on Tuesdays, starting at 9am, they open their doors to help those in need. Since the beginning of 2021, they’ve helped nearly 70 families each week.
Watch and learn how important the Lakefield Community Food Bank is to this area. Listen to find out how you can help or how easy it is to access them if you need the services.
Please share this video and get the word out to our Selwyn Township residents, and perhaps inspire another community to make a movement that truly serves.
