For anyone, hair loss can be a major set back on your self esteem. Life doesn’t give us a choice in the cards that we’re dealt. Often times, things happen in our life and disrupt our sense of who we are. BUT – these things don’t define us as people, they help shape us.
It’s been about 2 years since Natalie was diagnosed with Alopecia. If you’re unsure of what that is, it’s an auto-immune disease that causes hair follicles to attack themselves and the hair falls out. There are 3 different types – Alopecia Totalis, Alopecia Universalis and Alopecia Areata.
Most people don’t realize that alopecia is incredibly common in both males and females. The disease is unpredictable – it can happen to anyone at any time. Although there is no cure, there are treatments.
Natalie reached out to me hoping to spread awareness and knowledge.
She was being treated with steroid injections but eventually stopped. After realizing her hair didn’t define who she is, it was time to embrace and educate those around her. It’s easy to focus on what you see in the mirror, but how you look on the inside is what really counts. Beauty truly does come from within.
As soon as Natalie accepted her hair loss for what it was, everything changed for her. Her confidence was on the rise, she took back any power that her hair loss had over her.
Something key to take away from this interview is to respect yourself for who you are, from there, work towards loving yourself.
There are so many important messages to take away from this interview.
