Are some people more likely to get cavities than others? Unfortunately, the answer is yes. But, here are some things you can do to help prevent them!
In order to get a cavity, you need to have 3 things: teeth, plaque (bacteria) and sugar. Although your teeth are a genetic factor, you can help control the rest. Brushing and flossing your teeth regularly is important, but also knowing when to consuming sugar.
The best time to consume sugar is with a meal – this is when you have the most saliva. It’s not ideal to consume sugar before going to sleep. When you’re sleeping, your mouth becomes dry allowing the sugar to sit and cause cavities.
Back in April of last year, our world was shut down as we faced the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. As with many businesses, dentists weren’t allowed to operate their facilities on a regular basis. Only for emergencies.
When my oldest child woke up with tooth pain, we made an appointment with Kawartha Dental Clinic right away. Thankfully they were able to get us in the next day.
Upon entering, they do a COVID-19 questionnaire and check your temperature. If you’re experiencing any symptoms, they tell you how to proceed. They have enhanced cleaning measures and all staff wear proper PPE as well.
Dr Sanai took the time to explain to us the science behind cavities and took care of the 2 my daughter needed filled.
No more sugar at night time!
At this time, Kawartha Dental Clinic is able to make regularly scheduled appointments. They’re also treating emergencies and accepting new patients. To book your appointment or for more information, call 705-743-1851 OR email [email protected]
