This week on Get Fit with Jer, I asked Jer’s trainer, David Kittner to write a piece on his journey with Jeremy.  David (and Amy) work with a lot of different people. They work with lots of people with different goals.  David has great insight on the recipe for success and the 4 tips that could be the game changer for you!

It’s not about the weight. It’s about the process! Improving one’s health and fitness requires time. There’s a reason it’s called a lifestyle …. because it’s for life. Jeremy is on a journey, a long term journey that resembles more of a marathon instead of a sprint. It’s also a journey with no finish line.

Jeremy came to see us three months ago. He wanted a change not solely because of the way he looked on the outside, rather because of the way he was feeling on the inside. He had his one moment and was ready to act on it. Jeremy had the single most important ingredient to succeed: he had a WHY and with a strong enough WHY everything is possible.

IMG_5690.JPGThis pic represents Jer’s progress!  When he started he needed all the risers on the right to do his push ups. He has graduated to only 8 risers!  YA BABY!

When we first meet with a client, it’s to help understand and uncover their why. The why is what will drive them to succeed.

Changing a lifestyle and creating new habits isn’t easy.  If it was, everyone would be doing it. There are no quick fixes or shortcuts. It’s a long term process that requires doing the little things day in and day out. Simple to do yes, but also simple not to do. As Robert Collier states, “Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.”

Establishing Jeremy’s baseline allowed us to create his fitness profile. Every profile is like a fingerprint unique to the individual. For Jeremy this baseline identified his strengths and weaknesses through various movement patterns and became the foundation for his progress.

The number one goal is to do no harm. Jeremy came to Prowess to get better not hurt. The individualized programming we offer Jeremy is not a Cookie cutter approach that treats everyone the same. Injury prevention is key and to treat Jeremy the same as anyone else is a recipe for injury, burnout and failure.

Jeremy’s goals are simple. Aside from losing 100 pounds in one year, he wants to move better, feel better, look better and become the healthiest he’s ever been in his life.

Although your goals may be similar your starting baseline will differ. Here are the most important things to consider before you get started.

• Define your WHY

• Commit to doing the work daily. Time is key

• Find a qualified and knowledgeable Strength Coach

• Surround yourself with like-minded people

Jeremy is a Champion. He is doing the work. He is putting in the time. He is seeing the results. He is staying the course with an entire #wolfpac at his side.

Doing This Will Make Life Easier

Running is hard. Really hard and it is not for everyone. BUT You don’t have to be a runner, to understand why it is important to make your body move and sweat as often as possible.  Watch this weeks Monday Motivation video about why one tiny hill is the best metaphor on how to manage

  1. Congratulations Jeremy on your dedication and commitment to the process. You’ve come a long way my friend. Keep up the great work! And yes Michelle the #wolfpac is alive and well at Prowess Strength and Conditioning. You’re always welcome to come and train. ~ David
