It’s good! I mean it’s grrrreat! (Insert Tony the Tiger’s finger here).
But we need to clear something up: I do not FLY planes, or serve food on airplanes, and I don’t work for the airport.
“SO WHAT DO YOU DO??”
I am the Business Development Co-ordinator with The Loomex Group.
“BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???”
Well, The Loomex Group is a company that has three main divisions:
- Property Management: which is why they are based out of the airport, because they operate and manage the Peterborough Airport under a contract with the City of Peterborough.
- Training: part of airport management is adequate training and credentials. Loomex offers a range of courses to airports, first responders and beyond in EMT (emergency management training). For a full list of all the courses click here.
- Consulting: helping other businesses and airports reach their full potential through consultation and professional service.
SO my job is to work with all three divisions to ensure the company is developing in the direction CEO Trent Gervais wants it to. Connecting with others in the aviation and emergency services industry to let people know Loomex is where is at. I help book the courses, develop new courses and help wherever I am needed.
It’s fun, it’s new and it’s exciting. It’s a transition to start something new. I was the alpha girl at CHEX, I really had my “game” on! I knew my job inside and out and people often came to me for help… now I’m a bit like a co-op student… starting from the bottom again, which is exciting and scary!
But as my husband says, “Hey Michelle! You can’t take over the company yet, it’s only been a week!”
I love learning and mastering whatever it is I’m doing. I remember when I started CHEX, I was bad, OMG seriously I was awful. But part of the reward of trying something new is learning and watching yourself get better, because you can and you want to.
So come visit me at the airport, I might even give you a tour! And if you know of anyone who’s a first responder or working at an airport, send em my way! I wanna talk to them and tell them how The Loomex Group will make them better, just like it’s doing for me!
I leave you with this funny little iMovie trailer I threw together for my co-workers who are patient as pie with me!
