“Are you ready for Christmas?’
“Ya sure! But first I need to celebrate a birthday!”
That is a conversation I’ve had for eight years. Yep, my second born, took his first breath December 23rd, 2006, and it was the BEST Christmas present ever!

I’m still really surprised at how many people react negatively to Giorgio’s birth date. Responses vary but are along the lines of:
1. “Oh poor kid”
2. “That was bad planning on your part”
3. “Oh so what do you do for his birthday?”
4. “Awwww that’s too bad.”
I’ve never thought Giorgio’s birth date was a negative thing, ever. I love birthdays. They’re very important to me. Whether you’re born December 23rd or May 23rd, you should and will receive a proper birthday celebration. SO we live it up at my house. I always tell Giorgio he’s just like Baby Jesus, he likes that;)
Anyway, I have two reasons for this blog:
1. To all of you December babies, and parents expecting a December baby…don’t stress. Like all things in life, it is what YOU make of it. If you make it negative, it will be. Giorgio’s brother and sister actually whine, saying “Giorgio has the BEST birthday ever, he gets more presents because Christmas is RIGHT after!”
2. I wanted to share a birthday party idea for kids.
This year we went to the OFAH Mario Cortellucci Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre. It’s located behind the Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters Building on Guthrie Dr in Peterborough ON. It was a fantastic location and party. For $199, your birthday party includes (for 10 kids):
- Choice between air gun shooting range or archery range with a supervised lesson
- Amphitheatre with a big screen and movie of your choice (not new releases)
- Popcorn
- Grab bags
- A lovely gift for the birthday kid courtesy of OFAH
It really is a lovely place and I recommend taking the kids over the Christmas holidays. They also do business events, conferences and more. Click the link above to get more info.
SOOOO that’s my 2sense on December babies and my suggestion for a great spot for a kid’s birthday party.
BTW, my middle name is Mary and my husband’s middle name is Joseph…just sayin’.
