There are two types of people:
- People who love Halloween
- People who don’t love Halloween
As you may have guessed, I’m in category one. I think a lot about my costume, usually starting in August. This year I knew I wanted to try Malificient. I watched the movie with my daughter in theaters when it came out in May 2014. We loved it. I loved the story line: a misunderstood women who became “evil” because of resentment and being mistreated. Malificient tells a story of how there is always another side to a story. Many people think Malificient is evil, which isn’t the case. Malificient is actually a victim whose hurt turned to anger and revenge.
I also loved how Angelina Jolie owned the look. I found the Disney licensed costume online at www.buycostumes.com. I also went all out and bought some wings. I have always splurged on Halloween costumes, even for my kids. They play dress up in them all year round. I spent about $70 on my costume.
I knew I wanted the green Malificient contacts for the real “WOW” effect. I found some online at www.colouryoureyes.com. They cost me $ 18.00 .
I knew the key to the Malificient’s look was great makeup with contouring and creating incredible cheekbones. I googled a makeup tutorial, there are a few to chose from, I liked this one! I used all my own makeup.
I had all the pieces ready to go to become Disney’s Malificient. It was time for the transformation!
It took a total of 30 minutes for all the makeup to be applied. I asked my husband to help me a bit with the makeup. He’s really artistic and I knew he could definitely help with the shadowing detail. After all the makeup was applied, I did something I have never done before: I put contacts in my eyes. Actually I held my eyes wide open while my contact wearing professional husband put them in. To my surprise and to his, they didn’t irritate my eyes at all. I wore them from 3:30pm – 2am without any issues!
If my Malificient costume didn’t work out, I could have easily been a cyborg. NEXT YEAR FRIENDS! NEXT YEAR! After the contacts went in, I put on the costume, and starting taking pictures like a crazy angry powerful fairy;)
The one thing I would have changed, I would have worn less “circusy” eyelashes. They should have been cut a bit at the ends, but you really shouldn’t mess with glue on lashes once they are applied, so I left em. This is Malificient & her Sith Lord boyfriend. I wonder what kind of kids they would make?
Turns out they make a Storm Trooper, a Knight and a Police Officer. Makes total sense I’d say.
I can’t imagine what fights between these two would look like;)
We went to a family Halloween Party and this mini Malificient was pretty impressed the “real” one wanted a pic with her. The kids are the best when you dress up. My Kids LOVED looking at my contacts.
HAPPY BELATED HALLOWEEN FROM MALIFICIENT AND HER FAMILY!! Enjoy your crispy crunch, MARS bars and Doritos (my personal faves!)
