I recently was crowd sourcing for a client. They are considering a big contest as part of their marketing campaign.
I asked all of you on Facebook: If you could win either a trip for two to an exotic location or cash, which one would you choose?
I really thought it would be a no brainer. I thought everyone would pick a trip for sure. I was surprised at your responses, with an almost a 50/50 split.
For me, travelling is the best investment. I LOVE TRAVELLING! One day I want to take me kids around the world! I also love our home and staying home, but I’m a big advocate of experiences. As my Twitter and Instagram profiles say “Try everything”.
The other reason I love travelling is because it takes me out of the house and allows me to focus more on my kids. What I mean by that is: when I’m at home, I’m consumed and sometimes overwhelmed with “running” the house. Doing the laundry, cooking, cleaning, dishes, cooking, dishes, cooking, dishes, cooking, dishes, ok you get it.
Giorgio and I NOT doing the dishes.
When I travel with my kids, I don’t care if the beds are made. We don’t have the pressure of getting to bed on time or making lunches. I can focus on the experiences in front of me.

One of the things I really don’t like about travelling is getting there. I especially don’t like airports and customs. I will help start a gofund me page for anyone who can design an effective teleportation system. There are some amazing exotic locations that I can’t wait to get to, but there are also some amazing gems right under our nose.
Our family was recently invited to Elmhirst’s Resort in Keene Ontario. It is literally 25 minutes from our house. They have the sweetest waterfront cottages with THREE BEDROOMS, two bathrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, stove and fridge and a fireplace. We stayed two nights and had such a great time.
Here is the vlog of all the fun we had and an inside look at the cottages! (watch time 3:22)
Thanks again to Elmhirst's for the fun and memories. Here's a few more pics from our fall trip to Rice Lake!
