Is there an increase in bullying? According to Cst Sean Nusink from the Peterborough Police, not really. Officer Sean, as many of his students call him, says he sees a bigger increase in the stress of scheduling and meeting academic expectations (like reading and writing) than bullying.
MF on Patrol with Cst. Sean Nusink, a community officer who talks to students in the schools.
I’m really excited to be working with the Peterborough Police. Every month get ready for “MF on Patrol”. The segments are targeted at educating while hopefully entertaining parents and kids. This first one about bullying vs conflict and has some great information, especially for adults! I personally learned a ton speaking with Sean. It’s more serious content than some of the others we have lined up. I suggest you watch with your kids and start talking. (5:55)
I have already started asking my kids "Did you do anything nice for someone today?" Instead of "What happened today?" Thanks so much Sean! But my daughter has a lot of questions for you. She wants to know why would she tell a teacher if someone is being mean? Then that person will be even more mad. I think she has a great point and I know you have answers. We will have a lot more surrounding bullying and especially cyber bullying in the coming weeks and months. I think I'll let her interview you;) We have some really great segments lined up, including how old do your kids need to be to have Instagram?! Please send us any questions or feedback you have to [email protected]. We are so excited to get parents and kids talking. Here are some links Cst. Sean gave us about bullying. Take a look and share away! PREVNET MF
