Adriano with our boys getting a BIG haircut!

But his first love and craft is film making. He graduated from the Niagara Film Radio and Television program. He’s actually the reason I fell into broadcasting. At his suggestion, I volunteered for him on camera while he was a producer at TV Cogeco. That volunteering led to a paid position at CHEX TV. He taught me so much, almost everything I know really!  He taught me to edit, shoot and how to be on camera

Unfortunately, Adriano’s passion for film has always taken a back seat to life.  Between a full time job, 3 kids and a wife who always needs him, finding the time to make movies has always been the biggest obstacle.

Last year Adriano wrote and directed his 3rd short film, Passing.  With a crew and cast of 12 he shot it one sunny afternoon in Lakefield Ontario.

l-r: Luke Gauthier, Paul Taylor, Adriano Ferreri, Olivia Portt, Leigha Brett, Michelle Ferreri, Jasmine Papoutsis, Rhonda Morley Causton missing is Christina Abbott & Camellia Shaw, Ryan Weir, Kent Randall

The synopsis of the movie is: “Two teenaged sisters find themselves lost in the woods and badly injured.  Unable to recall how they got there, they search for answers while finding a way out”.

Olivia Portt plays Laura and Leigha Brett plays Ashley.  My kids were around the day we shot it.  They watched in awe as Rhonda Morley Causton applied the special effects makeup and prosthetic abdomen for Laura. The shoot was all done within walking distance of our home. One of our poor neighbours came RUNNING during shooting to see what happened. Olivia was acting her heart out and our distraught neighbour thought she was getting murdered! (You’ll know which scene I’m talking about when you watch it).

One of the highlights of the day was during lunch time when my 80+ yr old father in law stopped by. The girls still had their makeup on and poor Nonna Joe, was chatting away.  He looked over at Leigha and just about choked on his food! He had no idea what was going on!!

Take 8 minutes to watch the film if you can, and please vote for it! It’s up for an audience award in the Short Stop International Film Festival.

I’m really excited to also tell you Adriano finally finished his script for his feature film!! HIS FIRST FEATURE FILM!!! He begins shooting any day now. He’s had a dream to make a feature film since he was 7yrs old when he watched Raiders of the Lost Ark. His movie is called “EMP” the synopsis is:  “After an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) weapon is deployed, North America is instantly sent back to the pre-industrial age.  Anything electrical is useless, sending the country into anarchy.  An eleven year old girl must fend and fight for herself while trying to find her father”.

He has a dynamite cast lined up featuring some incredible local talent.  Liam Davidson as Will, Daniel Smith as a bad dude and our daughter Rosa Ferreri as the main character, Niamh.  His shooting locations are all local including Douro, Lakefield, Ennismore and Cavan.  Stay tuned to his Facebook/Twitter/Instagram and YouTube channel for updates on the progress.  He’ll also be giving behind the scenes tips to other folks interested in the world of film.

I’m so excited for him!!!!
