Skydiving With The Skyhawks!

I met the Canadian Forces elite parachute team, The Skyhawks in 2010. The team is a travelling parabatic demonstration team (amazing, ridiculous acrobats of the sky).  They perform around the world and showcase the skill and training of the Canadian Forces.  They offer media jumps for civilians to get a true experience of their world.

I was strapped to a tandem master about to jump and a stop jump was called due to high winds.

I had never been so relieved and disappointed in my life.  I was literally having a panic attack getting strapped to my tandem master.

Fast forward two years and we try again and yes I did Skydive.  It was amazing.  This past month I had an opportunity to jump with them again in CFB BORDEN during media day for the air show, and this time I was ready, chill and excited.

I know how skilled they are.  I know that if you are going to do something crazy like skydiving, you want to do it with this team, the best of the best.

Watch this VIDEO shot and edited by the Skyhawks of me skydiving from the most incredible aircraft! (watch time 5:53)!

MF SKYDIVES WITH THE SKYHAWKS!!I TOTALLLY DID IT! Friday June 10th at CFB Borden during their media day for the Airshow I skydived with the Canadian Forces elite parachute team for the 2nd time!! I HIGHLY recommend checking out the The SkyHawks | Les SkyHawks this weekend: June 25 & 26 in Trenton Ontario. They are opening the airshow at CFB Trenton and I promise you WILL LOVE them! The show is awesome for all ages and anyone considering joining the Canadian Forces! Thanks so much to my tandem master WO Steve Ouimet who kept me alive. I did forget to pull the shoot, so I’m pretty glad he was there;)

The most common question I get asked about skydiving is, “Does it feel like a roller coaster when you go down a big hill and lose your stomach?”

NO! The free fall is fast, windy and crazy.  You don’t really know how fast you’re falling because there isn’t a reference point.  It just feels awesome and FAST.  Your eyes water like crazy, that’s why I had those goggles on!

Hands down, the best part is under the canopy, after the shoot is pulled (for obvious reasons;) Honesty though, it is truly spectacular.  The peace and quiet is like nothing you’ve ever experienced.  To see the world from that vantage point, with your body exposed with no sound of engines, traffic, or people is something everyone should experience. You don’t realize how loud our world is on the ground, until you hear the silence of the sky.

The team usually does a meet and greet after jumps and signs autographs and they usually let the kids (and adults) help pack their parachutes.  It really is something worth checking out!  Make sure you like THE SKYHAWKS FACEBOOK PAGE BY CLICKING HERE.  They post really cool videos and updates regularly about their schedule and training!

Tell the team I say HI!!
