I think my dad deserves this father’s day prize because he is just amazing. He came into our lives 9 years ago and took on 2 more kids and 2 grandchildren at the point and has never looked back. He at one point was going to sell his home and buy a bigger one so we could live with them till this cancer journey was over. Drives my husband and I to Princess Margaret at 5am, is there when I need a hug or a good cry. He has supported my brother and I through alot of ups and downs and never looked back. He now has 6 grandchildren and he absolutely loves it. He takes them to dinner, the movies, shopping, wonderland and so much more. He comes to there hockey, baseball and anyother sport our kids play. I lost my dad in 2002 at the age of 17 and I thought there is no one out there like my dad, well we have him now he reminds me so much of my bio dad. People say oh thats your stepdad NO he is my dad, we are not his stepchildren my brother and I are his kids. For all these reasons this is why my dad deserves to win.
Can I nominate my children’s father? A man who chose to take paternity leave in order to share the experiences with our newborn’s together – one who, since October, has gone to our son’s school every day to inject his needed insulin and assess his emotional wellbeing. A man who is choosing to secure funding in order to bring his daughter to Uganda this August on a writing mission to support type 1 diabetes and wants to offer his child an experience she would never have that will shape her growth. Kristian has coached every sport, engaged in every conversation and is sculpting our children to be kind, compassionate and empathetic humans in a world of disconnect. He encourages altruism and community connectedness and he is find talking through the harsh truths of reality in appropriate and loving ways. My children are blessed to have him – as am I
My dad is amazing because of the love, support and help he gives our family. He retired young, suffered a heart attack at 63, but never skipped a beat in helping to look after his grand daughters (my kids). He’s there any time of day or night, getting them to or from school/daycare, dance lessons, swimming lessons, etc. He spends the summer and other school holidays with my oldest so we don’t have the financial burden of child care. His unwavering love and commitment to my girls is a blessing. I’m so proud to have him in our lives, and so glad my girls are growing up having such a close relationship with their Papa!
My dad deserves to win as he makes life fun and interesting. He makes light of bad situations which makes everyone laugh. I love my dad because he loves me unconditionally, easily forgives and for some reason is impressed with my ditzy self.
