Hey, Parents! Let's Talk About #SmokeFreeMovies

“You don’t know what you don’t know.”

A brilliant quote by Taylor Swift. I actually thought I came up with it, but I think it’s been around even before I thought Taylor stole it from me.

If we don’t talk about issues, if we don’t ask questions, if we don’t learn we won’t know what we don’t know.

Remember when we thought drinking and driving was fine? Or when we let babies and kids ride in cars without car seats? How about when the air was blue at restaurants?

We have come along way, but there’s a long way to go too.

#SmokeFreeKids

I’m proud and excited to be announcing a partnership with Peterborough Public Health in their #smokefreemovies campaign.

Watch the video and let us know what you think. We want to hear your voice. We want to know what you think. We want you to share this video and talk to your friends about it!

#SmokeFreeMovies

Thanks so much to the parents and kids who participated in this video! I think we should have a dance party when it’s all wrapped up or just play a whole bunch of board games!

Stay tuned, we are going to inspire you in the next few weeks to get chatting with your kids. Use the hashtag #smokefreemovies and join the conversation!

In the meantime, click to enjoy this Taylor Swift song 🙂

My Lucky 7 List of How to Get Along After Separation and Divorce

My Lucky 7 List of How to Get Along After Separation and Divorce

I can honestly say divorce is the hardest thing I have ever experienced in my life, and without going into a lot of detail, that says a lot. Why?  Why is it so crippling? Because of your thoughts and the lies your mind tells you. Your mind tells you you failed.  Your mind tells you

  1. I’d love to win the getaway to Elmhirst Resort because we have paddled by a few times when we have been out for a days paddle but have never stayed. And who wouldn’t love a wee bit of pampering. My fave part is having my meals served to me. 😉 thanks once again for your blog and your contests.

  2. I would love to win this Elmhirst getaway to enjoy the beautiful nature walks, fishing, farm to table dining and cozying up with a cup of tea and a good book. Pure bliss

  3. Id love to win this giveaway because we havent had a family trip in as long as i can remember and we have had a stressful past few months and relaxing would be a welcomed treat

  4. There are so many things as a parent of a 2 and 4 year old that I’m trying to wrap my head around as far as parenting lessons go on a daily basis!!
Being kind – saying nice words – fighting in movies/shows whats real and what isn’t real.
My son loves superheroes and Ninja Turtles – even in movies like the Chipmunks I’ve found they say words like “stupid” & “hate” which my son uses and I’m desperately trying to get him out of using.

This no smoking campaign is fantastic, it’s not something I really considered as a possible threat to my kids but now it’s got me thinking for sure. How easy it was for them to pick up on the words, and actions in the shows they watch now I’ll definitely be watching out for these other things too!

  5. My kids do not know what smoking is, and I hope they don’t for some time to come (they are two and four.)

We would love to win a family getaway to the Elmhirst! It would be such a nice treat for our family, and our sons’ great-grandma lives nearby so it would be so nice to have a “home base” while visiting her, and be able to have fun and enjoy ourselves at the hotel for a bit too 🙂

  6. I have been 9 years smoke free!!!! Unfortunately for my Mum this addiction caused her death. She went to sleep one night with the feeling of flu and heartburn and didn’t wake in the morning. She had suffered from congestive heart failure. I lost the most beautiful person in my life that day and my children lost their Nana. Over and over I tell my children that she died from years of smoking and they will always know that this is why she is no longer here. She was 60 and she died right in the time of my life when I think I might have needed her the most while I raise my children.

    • Sorry I ment to also write how much I appreciate this campaign as well as the opportunity to win some amazing family time together with my husband and four beautiful children (Cole 10, Chelsie 7, Maddie~Mae 3 and Mackenzie 11months ) at the Elmhurst Resort. We would enjoy this getaway in my Mums honor .
