I am a country girl.
I love farmers. I love farm life, but I had never been to the Royal Winter Fair until this year.
The RAWF is the WORLD’S largest combined indoor agricultural and equestrian show. It is the final fair, meaning it is the highest level of competition for Canadian farmers and chefs. For non-professional equestrians, The Royal is like their Superbowl: It is a BIG deal! A win at The Royal can increase the value of an animal between 20-50%!
This year The Royal runs from November 4-13 at Exhibition Place in Toronto.

One of our first stops was to meet the Royal Ambassador: Turbo the Goat!

The kids really loved it. There is a LOT to see and do. We didn’t really have a plan per se, we just kind of walked and took it all in. The kids loved the petting zoo, the animals, the food, the vendors and the hands on educational areas that usually included trivia.

We saw lots of familiar faces too!

We met this Hastings crew on our way back at the Go Train. They were all first time riders!
There are over 1100lbs of cheese entered into competition at The Royal and it was pretty cool to learn our favourite local goat cheese from Crosswind Farm dominated!
Team #ptbo killing it @THERAWF @CrossWindFarm1 congrats!!! #teamptbo #royalfever pic.twitter.com/xYTc0ijU4o

I think Marcello enjoyed the candy apples better than the cheese though;)

On our way back I shot this quick clip of what we saw under the Gardiner Expressway and I think it sums up why EVERYONE really should experience The Royal.
Agriculture is so important. Talk to your kids about where their food comes from, better yet, show them at The Royal, for a full list of events and the schedule click here.

Looks like you had a great time at The Royal. I love going to, although haven’t been in a few years. Go Train is the way to go. And man, I love those candy apples too, but my teeth do not. I’d be afraid of breaking a crown. lol. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Elizabeth!! Sorry for the delay in replying! Yes it was super fun!
