Why We Love Our Rotospa

I’m in the hot tub….again.

Let me start out with this, I work in marketing and product reviews. I get asked to try things often. I do not and will not review a product that I don’t support, use or like.

I actually cherry pick most of the brands and products I work with.

This blog is sponsored and I’m happy to say I’m writing about Rotospa.

My husband and I have had lengthy conversations about getting a hot tub. We were reluctant to get one for a few reasons:

  1. Time. How much time will it take to maintain. It just seemed like it was going to be one more thing to take care of around the house.
  2. My son’s eczema. Would the chemicals irritate it?
  3. Would we even use it? Like most things in life, the novelty wears off. Would a hot tub be another “thing” we purchased that we want to get rid of?
  4. Money. They are a big investment, and they cost money in hydro every month.

We shopped around. I can honestly say I had no idea how many hot tub retailers there are!! We went in to a show room and the sales rep asked me a bunch of questions I couldn’t answer.

I just wanted a hot tub.

I didn’t care if it had a stereo, 125 jets, lights, a lounger, if was 8×8 or 7×7. I just wanted hot water to relax in.

Then you needed an electrician, and a concrete pad, and holy crud it seemed totally overwhelming and expensive!

My husband is a barber and suffers from muscle fatigue and back problems. I was really hopeful that a hot tub would help, but it just seemed too complicated to make it worth it.

We were at the gym and I was chatting about our hot tub consideration and the owner said call Rotospa and rent one. It’s super easy.

This was on a Tuesday, by Thursday we had one.

I called Rotospa (which happens to be located around the corner from us) they delivered one and had it set up within 15 minutes.

We just filled it up, plugged it in, put some chemicals in it and waited for it to reach  a balmy 104 degrees.

So far it was simple, and the story of the company was super appealing. It started with an idea in the farming world, a water cistern for cattle! Co owner Fred Jackson thought, hey this cistern could be a hot tub and the rest they say is history!

The first one was made from wood, today they are making around three a day molded from a plastic material. The tubs are manufactured in my community of Lakefield, Ontario and now shipped all over the world.

Their slogan: portable, affordable luxury is pretty bang on.

The circular design is simple and easy to move (just roll it). They are also only 110volt which means you can just plug it in.

Fred was open to me giving the tub a try. I surprised my son with it for a birthday gift, he along with his brother and sister were pretty pumped.

After we rented it for a week, which is $449 + tax for two weeks (and is deducted from purchase price) we were hooked.

My doubting husband was a Rotospa believer!

Hydro costs average $15 to $20 a month and maintenance is super easy, we put in a chlorine puck a week.

It’s also super easy to move, hence the slogan: portable. We rolled ours down to the dock for the summer and we are in it at least five times a week if not more.

The cost of a Rotospa versus other hot tubs is significant. They start at under $5000 and they’re built to last!
