Back To School Shopping With RBC Rewards

I’ll be honest, until this year I wasn’t a huge ambassador of back to school shopping.

I usually like to go a couple weeks after school starts.

But there’s still necessities that I can’t avoid: indoor shoes, lunch bags and I do like new bedding because I think good sleep is really important for back to school.

But this year is a bit different. This year I have a 13 year old. My daughter now cares about her clothes, her appearance  and her shoes. This new phase of growth and maturity also means she loves shopping.

The idea of shopping with my daughter is pretty awesome. Bonding with her over fashion makes me pretty excited.

So this year I’m on the back to school shopping bandwagon.

Shopping with my daughter keeps me young and current! She shows me the latest trends and I get to do something with her outside of the home that’s not expectation based, ie chores.

Back To School Shopping With RBC Rewards

We partnered with RBC Rewards on this post. I’ve been in the market for a new card, and after a bit of research on which card would work best for us and our lifestyle and landed on an RBC Visa Infinite Avion. We love travelling, so the idea of getting travel rewards while spending money we are already going to spend is a no brainer.

There’s also plenty of incentives to help with your back to school budget:

  • RBC clients can save money by using their RBC Rewards points to redeem for merchandise that may not seem attainable within their back to school budget. With new products from Apple, Herschel and more than 50,000 products from Best Buy available, RBC Rewards can meet your back-to-school shopping needs, using points instead of dollars.
  • Clients can also redeem rewards points for gift cards to use in-store or online. And, a really cool feature of the RBC Rewards program is Payback with Points, where members can use the points they’ve earned on their back to school purchases to pay down their credit card balance.
  • Clients can shop with great brands like Apple and Indigo, and earn bonus RBC Rewards points for the purchases they would already be making for back to school.

Here are some of the great offers that let you earn bonus points:

  • HBC Gift Card: Earn bonus points when you redeem for an HBC gift card
  • Home Outfitters Gift Card: Earn bonus points when you redeem for a Home Outfitters gift card
  • Apple: 2x points on online purchases (must opt in to receive the deal)
  • Indigo: 2x points (must opt in to receive the deal)

The RBC Rewards app helps clients review their available points balance and pending points activity on the go. The app has many of the same features as the online platform but provides clients with convenience of a mobile experience.

There’s lots of choice and flexibility in the cards and types of rewards.

We were really impressed with the RBC rewards app that shows you your balance and rewards accrued in real time.
