“Alternatives treats people like family.”
This is something I heard a lot while visiting the current location for Alternatives Community Program Services in Peterborough, Ontario, a program that supports over 250 people and their families each year.
Alternatives provides opportunities and outcomes for learning and skill development in the areas of employment volunteerism, recreation and community involvement. We foster a sense of belonging for people of all abilities. We open doors to help people realize their full potential.
Alternatives has outgrown their current location, and to serve even more people and the community, they’re moving to their new building on Braidwood in Peterborough. Right now, they’re working toward getting the new building ready for access, raising funds to do so, and educating the community about what they do and how they can help.

Dear Michelle,
I just finished watching The Alternatives’ Braidwood Neighbourhood Project piece. I can’t believe this was the first time I heard about it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for getting the word out.
May I share this on Facebook , I mean alternativescommunityprogramservices.ca! This is such a great cause for people to donate to. Peterborough needs to see this and for those that have the means to do so, please help. How about sharing this, with City Council…. They seemed to muster up the big bucks when it comes to something they want done…even if the constituents are against it …. my rant only. These special human beings are so important in our community. God Bless and again I await the green light from you to share the site. Hugs,Betty
