It’s an uncomfortable topic, but that’s exactly why we’re talking about it.
October is Child Abuse Prevention Month and in this video, I’m chatting with Andy from the Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Aid Society.
There’s a negative stigma attached to the work that the Children’s Aid Society does. As one of our readers commented on the video — you always hear the horror stories about children being removed from their homes. In reality, this is the case for less than 3% of children they deal with and is done to provide a safe place for that child to be.
Family preservation is incredibly important for the work they do and the more we know, the more we can shed that stigma behind an organization that provides so much support to our community.
I hope you’ll watch this video to learn more ab out what we can do to prevent child abuse, what to do if you see it happening, and how the Children’s Aid Society helps families. Families like mine and yours.
Wear purple on October 24th to share your support and let’s get rid of that stigma and help kids! Click here to learn more!
