If you’re a regular viewer, you’ve likely seen “QUEBEC HERE” in the comment section of my videos. Well, I was finally able to interview the person behind that well known quote. Pearl Selby has been a huge supporter of mine for years.

We actually got to meet when my was-band premiered his movie. Pearl drove 6 hours, all the way from Quebec to be there !

Remember when we could go to the movies and meet people?

Living life as your authentic self can be difficult. Especially during a time where it wasn’t accepted to be anything other than heterosexual.

When Pearl got married at 22, she knew that she wasn’t interested in men. But, at that time, it wasn’t accepted. It wasn’t discussed. She followed the status-quo.

After spending some time in a relationship with a woman, she knew that it was time to come out. It didn’t seem right to keep her partner in the closet. She knew it was time to embrace her authentic self.

To this day, Pearl is still best friends with her ex-husband. When she came out, her daughter and ex-husband were so accepting and supportive. Beyond her daughter, she didn’t care what anyone thought.

It may be scary, but living life as your authentic self is so freeing and rewarding. Wherever you are, whoever you are, whenever it is, embrace who you are.
