Mental health resources are critical to our overall wellbeing.
“There aren’t enough mental health resources.” This is something I hear a lot. There’s no denying the mental health crisis that’s taking place. The timing of this interview is spot on, it’s something we need to be talking about.
Telecare Peterborough is a 24/7 mental health hotline. It provides a safe and anonymous space for all ages to debrief. Whether it’s relationships, financial stress, depression or something else, there’s a person on the other end of the phone listening. Sometimes all you need is someone to listen without judgement. Additionally, Telecare is anonymous and confidential.
Though they are not counsellors or therapists, they’re willing to listen. The person who picks up the phone is there to listen.
Robin Wall joined Telecare in 2019. She wanted to give back to the community on a bigger scale. 50 hours of training later, Robin has given dozens of callers an ear to listen.
In order to volunteer with Telecare, each volunteer must complete 50 hours of training before taking calls. It’s not necessarily a position for everyone. But, if this sounds like something up your alley, they’re always looking for more volunteers.
If you or someone you know are in need of a listening ear, call 705-745-2273 to be connected with a Telecare volunteer.
