The Peterborough Canoe & Kayak Club invited me to the Peterborough Wellness Centre to see what their programs have to offer.
You’ll hear me talk frequently about how exercise and physical activity is great for both your mental & physical wellbeing. Moving my body every day is critical to my mental health and over all wellbeing.
Although many sports have been impacted by COVID-19, there’s still so many options to get your body moving – the Peterborough Canoe & Kayak Club is one of them!
We didn’t get to go on the real lake (because of weather), but the pool did the trick.m After some instructions and assistance, I got to hop in the canoe and take a trip around the pool. Whether or not I stayed dry, that’s another story.
I also had a chance to speak with Olympic Athlete Tessa DeSouza. Tessa started kayaking when she was 12 years old in Montreal, Canada. Among many accomplishments, Tessa made the national team, went to the Pan Am games and was pre selected for the Olympics!
Obviously I had to race a gold medalist, could I be the next champion? You’ll have to watch to find out.
Last summers programs were cancelled due to COVID-19. However, Peterborough Canoe & Kayak Club is back to business. They offer programs for all abilities. All the information can be found on their website.
