Who Will Be Canada’s Next Prime Minister?

October 19th, 2015, it’s voting day in Canada.  It has been Canada’s longest general election campaign in modern history.  I’m done with the ads and the mudslinging.  I’m ready for the results. Here is my prediction for what it’s worth. Liberal Minority Government.  Justin Trudeau will be Canada’s next Prime Minister.  Or should I say

Or should I say Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid.

IMG_4034.JPG Can you see the difference?  I can’t.  So many young girls everywhere are yelling “BUT DADDY I LOVE HIM”.

This election has had a strong undercurrent of either “Pro Harper or Anti Harper”.

Stephen Harper definitely generates a polar reaction.  The advance polls had a record breaking turn out. According to political analysts, this historically means the public wants to overturn the Government.  Personally I also think it could mean party loyals know their leader is under the gun and they’re stepping up to defend him.

Either way I think it’s important to vote.  Really important.  Talk to your kids and explain why everyone is talking politics.  Tell them Canada is special because we actually have the right to vote!

IMG_4196.JPGI think polling stations should have music, snacks, drinks and excitement.  I think voting should be an engaging and awesome experience.  It should be a national holiday.  Just sayin’.

In our house, we compare parties to teams.  My son loves hockey so this is an easy parallel from him.   Conservative is the blue team.  Liberal is the red team.  NDP is the orange team. Green is, yep the green team.

Whether you choose Thomas Mulclair, Justin Trudeau or Stephen Harper, remember this:  One person does not run the country.  One person does not make ALL the decisions.  Each leader is comprised of a whack of people and a team who collectively make decisions.  Canada makes good people.  We will be fine whatever happens.

Happy voting.  I love this country.

IMG_4194.JPGThe red wall is not a subliminal message.  Honestly the wall was just this red.
