Drugs can be a weird and uncomfortable topic for a lot of parents and apparently PSA ads in the 80’s.

I know a lot of parents who don’t know a lot about drugs and so they just don’t talk about it with their kids. I don’t think this is a great approach.  Drugs were around when we were growing up, they were around when our parents were growing up and they will be around when our kids are growing up. I think an informed kid can make much better decisions than a non informed one.

Prescription drugs are no exception.

I can remember in school getting asked to drink cough syrup.  I didn’t think anything could be dangerous about cough syrup, because you can buy it at the grocery store.  Today it’s escalated from cough syrup to potentially fatal prescription medication.

I’m a firm believer in talking to kids, they’re usually smarter than adults.  Grade six and seven are pivotal years.  The tween is it’s own species.   I was a bit worried that they wouldn’t wanna talk about prescription drugs.  I was a bit worried they wouldn’t like Gary in their classroom.  I was a bit worried they wouldn’t tell Cst. Hatton what they really know.

I was wrong.  These kids are smart and confident.  Good job parents.  Watch and see (watch time 6:32)

Thanks again to High St Guardian Pharmacy for sponsoring this episode of MF and Gary on Patrol. If you visit them make sure to tell them you saw the store featured on MF & Gary on Patrol.  img_7179.jpeg Remember to return your unused medication to any pharmacy, IT IS FREEEE!! There is so much that can go wrong with "extra" pills in your medicine cabinet, and flushing it down the toilet is a terrible idea too.  Where do you think it goes? Remember Cst. Hatton's tips:
  • SECURE
  • KEEP TRACK
  • TAKE IT BACK
So to bring this full circle: Drugs! Drugs! Drugs! Which are good? Which are bad? They are all equally dangerous. MF

My Lucky 7 List of How to Get Along After Separation and Divorce

I can honestly say divorce is the hardest thing I have ever experienced in my life, and without going into a lot of detail, that says a lot. Why?  Why is it so crippling? Because of your thoughts and the lies your mind tells you. Your mind tells you you failed.  Your mind tells you
