This video for me is really important to share. My youngest son recently did something that was not cool. He hurt another child in a fit of stress and anger. Dr. Shanker’s insight on children’s behaviour and ability or inability to self-regulate, allows me to be more patient and understanding, of ALL children not just my own.
His research is helping me problem solve and manage impulsive behaviour (both my children’s and my own), because now I understand there’s a reason for the behaviour.
“In doing Self-Reg we learn to look at others and ourselves with ‘soft eyes’. As we learn to read the signs of stress behaviour, the soft eyes just come.” Dr. Susan Hopkins.
Imagine if the whole world was more patient and understanding with each other?
It would be a lot more peaceful don’t you think?
