I loved downhill skiing when I was a teenager, but it’s been years since I gave it any attention.
My daughter (12) has been alpine skiing with her school and loves it, she also dances and acts.
My one son (10) loves and plays hockey.
My youngest (seven) has yet to find his “thing”.
I think it’s so important for all people, young and old to have a sport or craft they love. It builds confidence and independence.
When my seven year old snapped into his rental skis at Sir Sam’s Ski and Ride in Haliburton, Ontario, I was not optimistic about how he would like the sport.
Turns out I was wrong.
Here’s how the day went.
We started with a huge breakfast.
Next we got our rentals, then we hit the slopes for a lesson.
I strongly recommend ski lessons for two reasons:
- Kids don’t listen to their parents.
- Everyone needs the basics.
I never had the basics and I’ll tell you I had some pretty scary crashes. Lessons make all the difference in the world.
Here’s how our day at Sir Sam’s played out!
Marcello definitely found his “THING”! Thanks so much to our ski instructors Brian and Wayne for their patience!
Want to see one last video? This is less about skiing and more about living in Canada, but I think you’ll love it 😉
