Scott Stewart, along with his sister/business partner Dana Empey, have a vision.
To bring regularly scheduled flights to the Peterborough Airport.
Scott and Dana operate and own Carlson Wagonlit Stewart Travel. They started offering private charter flights from the Peterborough Airport in 2014. They currently run 4- 5 a year, but they want to do MORE.
Because the airport was not designed for passenger travelling in its initial design, the current charters are not running during the winter months.
Some of the places they have visited include:
- Myrtle Beach
- New Orleans
- Nashville
- Las Vegas
- New York
- Charleston
- Boston
They are off to St. John’s Newfoundland in June but that trip is sold out! The next available flight is October 12-15, 2017 to Charleston, North Carolina. If you want to stay up to date on the charters and be apart of the decision process on how they decide where to fly (destinations are chosen via demand), make sure to visit their website at carlsonwagonlit.net and click Peterborough Departures, or you can always follow them on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
To submit suggestions for destinations you can email [email protected] or message them on any of their social media platforms. They are currently planning 2018 destinations and would LOVE your input!
Related: What It Takes To Bring Passenger Flights To The Peterborough Airport
I have been fortunate enough to travel vlog for Carlson Wagonlit Stewart Travel and recently returned from their second New York departure. I also worked for Loomex, the company that manages the Peterborough Airport in October 2014, when the first charter flight landed and flew a sold out plane to New York.
The idea is to fill enough charter flights with passengers in order to prove to the airlines, Customs Canada and many others that the need is there for regularly scheduled flights. EVERYONE on these flights can agree with how easy and fast the process is.
With this NYC trip, travellers had the option to buy a package which included hotel and flight (just under $1500 taxes in) or just flight ($518 taxes in). I cannot stress enough how valuable these trips are.
One of the biggest criticisms I hear is that these trips are too expensive, but every person I spoke with on this trip, including myself strongly disagrees.
Travel is not an affordable option for everyone, I completely understand that, but IF travel is an option for your lifestyle, I assure you, this is INCREDIBLE VALUE and the most civilized way of travel we have ever experienced.
