A Son Inspires His Mom To Keep Fighting

In the fall of 2016, I shared a fundraising page on my Facebook set up by Cody Clancy. Cody was on a mission to raise money for cancer research in the Ride to Conquer Cancer.

Cody’s Mom, Melanie Peltz Clancy, has inflammatory breast cancer. After being misdiagnosed in November of 2016, Melanie had surgery to remove an 8cm mass and was diagnosed with stage 3 aggressive. She was put directly into chemo which will be followed up with a surgery then radiation.

When I shared the fundraising page, I said I wanted to see pictures of Cody crossing the finish line with his Mom waiting for him.

A Son Inspires His Mom To Keep Fighting

You can imagine my delight and watery eyes when I received this message from Melanie:

Hey Michelle so they did it. My brother in law Steve and son Cody accomplished the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer over the weekend. We saw them off in Toronto Saturday morning and met them crossing the finish line in Niagara Falls on Sunday afternoon. There was a record 20.5 million dollars raised this year for Princess Margaret Cancer Hospital. Such an overwhelming emotional weekend. To saw I am beyond proud that they rode for not only myself but in memory of so many other family members is incredible. I said I would share some pictures.

What an amazing experience!!! This gives me strength to keep fighting in this cancer journey I’m facing. Although I have a long journey ahead I will remember this weekend and cherish each moment of it.

Cody raised $2770 and Steve raised $2565 for their rides. There was 5054 riders during this two day event. Such a huge event.

Congratulations Cody and Steve. Melanie, thank you so much for sharing this intimate moment with us. I am sure you and your family have inspired so many others who struggling with illness and cancer.

xoxo
