My second born, Giorgio was born on December 23, 2006.
I’m continually baffled at how many people think it’s a bad day for a birthday.

There’s a lot of “Debbie Downers” about December birthdays.  Like anything in life, you control how you feel about something. We love Giorgio’s birthday, it’s fun. School’s out and the kids are pumped!

This year Giorgio’s little brother, Marcello gave me a great idea. I was editing Cop Shop, and Marcello was watching the part where the kids get out of the limo.  He said “I wanna ride in a limo”!!

I contacted one of the owners, Tami Vanderburgh of Welsh Limousine and we got the wheels in motion for a great birthday surprise.  Giorgio is a low key kid. He doesn’t like a fuss. He only wanted 3 friends over for a quiet birthday at our house. I thought well at least we can pick them up in style! I told the parents about the surprise.  They all loved it and didn’t tell their kids either.

I love this vlog keep an eye on Carson (blue coat) near the end of video, after he downs his ginger ale (It’s my favourite part)!

I think it was a great birthday party idea! We stopped at Sullivan's General Store in Ennismore for ketchup chips and ginger ale.   We also bought one of my favourite movies, "The Tooth Fairy", and watched it on the way back to our house! The limo seats 14 and costs $150/hr. The kids, as you saw had a BLAST!  img_5855.jpeg So we want to give you a chance to take a ride courtesy of Welsh Limousine AND SEE ROCK the ICE 6 AT THE PETERBOROUGH MEMORIAL CENTRE JANUARY 3rd at 2pm!!! rocktheice6

  1. What a great idea!! This would be so fun for “Auntie Nolie” to take my sister, my niece & nephew to…they’ve never had a limo experience or a live skating show!! You have the best giveaways!!! Thank you:)

  2. I would love to take my family as we have never seen the show. My youngest has never been in a limo before. It would be a great family experience. Making memories.

  3. Supposed to go last year but couldn’t because of weather. Had 2 girls when I got married so couldn’t afford limo. Have since added 2 more children and would love to celebrate with them.

  4. I took my mum a few years ago to see Rock the Ice. We had a great time. Now, she’s living in Lakefield Extendicare with dementia, but she still enjoys getting out. This would really be a lift for her.

  5. Why? Because I have a 9 year old and a 7 year old who have birthdays just weeks after this event and this experience would absolutely blow them away. In some respects winter birthdays can be limiting, but this would be a very memorable way to celebrate as a family!

  6. My daughter’s 13th birthday is the next day. I would love for her to have a first time experience in a limo to celebrate becoming a teen!

  7. Michellle:
For some reason I can never get your vlog too play, all I get is the picture as a still picture. What am I doing wrong?

Also would like to enter the contest and if I win I would like you to give it to a family who wouldn’t be able to afford to go.

    Thanks
    Brian

    • Hmmm that is strange Brian! Are you clicking on the picture with the triangle on it? There is a picture in the article that doesn’t play, it’s just a still photo. But there is also a what looks like a still photo with a triangle on it. Click on the triangle and it should play! Thanks for entering!!

  8. I would love to win this so I can take my nieces, they are both figure skaters and they would love to ride in a limo!

  9. Michelle – Happy Birthday to your son! What an awesome mom you are =)

I would love to win it. I find as the boys get older I prefer to give them the experiences instead of the physical gift. The memories last them a lifetime! The limo ride and the show would be an awesome memory to start 2016 with.

  10. We know all about Christmas bdays! My baby girl was born December 30. She turns 16 this year. I think we did alright in keeping the two celebrations separate. Busy time of year for us though. I look forward to January, lol.

Did I mention she turns 16? Yikes! Where has the time gone!

  11. I know exactly how you feel! I have a whole bunch of kids too ;P… And my sons birthday falls on Thanksgiving every year. We love it, we get a long weekend to plan and recover. My kids would LOVE a chance to take a limo ride and end up at their favourite place in Peterborough: the Memorial centre!

  12. My grandson Max turns 9 on January 2. Unsure of what he wants to do for the Day! But if I (Nina) could send Max and four other grandchildren to Mem centre via limousine. This would be an awesome gift!

  13. What an awesome way to spend a birthday. Our family of four has 2 December birthdays and 1 January birthday. I’m sure whoever wins will have a great time! Thanks for the chance to enter.

  14. I have a daughter who turned 6 on December 9th and my sons birthday is January the 4th.My son has been talking about his upcoming birthday for some time and would be over the moon to ride in a limo and see Rock the- Ice. We have had some much crazyness go on this Chrismas I would love to surprise my hubby and 2 children with this amazing giveaway.

  15. This would be a great way to lift a couple of my friends spirits that have sadly had a separation and divorce right around the holidays…..save me having to figure out something else. lol

  16. Attended the first Rock the Ice six years ago, it was awesome! Would love to go again, this time, arriving in style.
    ~Good luck to all.

  17. It’s my daughter’s 8th bday on the first, it would be amazing to have a date day, to celebrate her bday, and celebrate our first time out since the new baby sister arrived.

  18. I would love to win and take my mom and my two daughters to have 3 generations of skating lovers together in this amazing experience.

  19. Hey Michelle! Such a cool cool idea for the kids! We have six little ones who have never seen Rock the Ice and I would love to take them. We live a low key life on our farm showing the kids how to grow our own food and raise animals. Winning this opportunity would be totally off the children’s radar but such a man appreciated opportunity!

  20. Hey Michelle! I just loved this idea! We are a family with six children and live a pretty low key life on our farm. We are trying to teach the kids how to grow our own food and raise our own animals. An opportunity would be totally off the children’s radars but so massively appreciated!

  21. Love this idea. You and your family always have so much fun ♡♡♡♡
My son Hudson , my hubby and myself all have birthdays within 3 weeks of each other.
This would be awesome for us to go to as a family and let Hudson our son to bring a friend.

    Good luck to all!!

  22. I’ve taken my daughter to this show 2 years in a row. She loves it. This year I didn’t get tickets and I think she was disappointed without voicing that to me. You see her birthday is also in Dec . She came early as a great surprise to me as my due date was Christmas Day!!
She would be so surprised if a limo showed up out front of our house ! We are now a combined family with 5 kids. .both girls would go crazy !!

  23. I would love to surprise my daughter with this. She is craving some mother daughter time with me. I have 2 other kids boys and it is sometimes hard to do one on ones with each one of them alone. I think this would be special time for her.

  24. Good times and a great night out making memories with my kids! And who doesn’t love a limo ride…especially with ginger ale and ketchup chips! Love it!

  25. I would love to take my daughter. Her birthday is December 30 and we have a hard time fitting in a birthday party with a busy hockey schedule. She will be turning 12 and has missed having a birthday party the last 2 years because we have a full hockey schedule. This would be a great birthday for her and a couple of her friends.

  26. About 20 years ago I bought tickets to take my Mother and Sister to a similar show at the Mem. Centre. It would be so cool to do it again and include my now teenage Daughter…. Girl’s Night with STYLE!!!!’

  27. I have a daughter with a birthday December 23rd also. It can be chakkenging to make sure that it doesnt go unnoticed. My other daughter celebrates hsr day at the beginning of February as do I so this could be a giant birthday party for all of us!

  28. Ahhhh! I commented on the shared post hopefully it’s not too late to comment here 🙂
I’d love to win this for daughter, Lily she turns the big 8 on January 2nd?

  29. I’d love to take my rock star 5 year old daughter to rock the ice via limo. My daughter (not by blood), looks up to me everyday, I am her role model and I take this as a very serious role. We were talking about Rock the Ice before Christmas, and she asked if I liked figure skating. “Of course I like figure skating” I said with an enthusiastic tone. Her face lit up and and then she proceeded to say I’d really enjoy it too because of the music. I could see she wanted to ask for me to take her, but with being Christmas and her mother and I teaching her to be modest and not to ask for lots (and that the Holidays are about family, yadda yadda yadda…); she didn’t ask to go. So I twirled her around like we were figure skating, and told her that maybe I can arrange a Philler’s Brooklyn date. That being said, the tickets didn’t make it under the tree, but would still love to take her. This is why I would love to win these tickets. Thanks for the give away, thanks for the chance to win! Phil.

  30. What a great giveaway. My mom used to be a figure skater and would love to see this show. She had to stop skating herself because she dedicates her time and money to me and my sisters activities. I also have a sister who was born Christmas Day. Although we celebrate her birthday in the summer, I always feel that she gets missed.
