Our Kids Are So Excited To Watch Our Garden Grow

It’s time to get those seeds in the ground!

Kids learn SO much more than how to grow food when they learn to plant a garden. They’re learning a huge new skill, but also literacy and math comes into play in a big way. They’re learning patience and discipline, they’re gaining a great appreciation for the food they see in the grocery stores, and the sense of accomplishment is incredible.

Also, maybe Jill Bishop (from Urban Tomato and Nourish) is the key to gardening with your kids… because they hung on her every word 😉

So what did we plant?

  • Tomatos
  • Peppers (yes Jill brought a pepper called “lipstick” just for me!!)
  • Watermelon
  • Potatoes
  • Cantaloupe
  • Dragon Tongue Beans
  • Orca Beans
  • Peas
  • Kale
  • Arugula

There might actually be more, I was a little distracted while the kids were organizing, they were so excited, I just kind of let them roll with it and they really did a great job!!

Don’t miss Part 1 and Part 2 of our series with the Healthy Kids Community Challenge!

Join in the conversation over on Facebook and let me know if you’re joining in the gardening fun too! I’d love to hear what you’re planting and what your kids think about getting down the business, growing their own food, and learning as they go!

This series is sponsored by the Healthy Kids Community Challenge. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

My Lucky 7 List of How to Get Along After Separation and Divorce

I can honestly say divorce is the hardest thing I have ever experienced in my life, and without going into a lot of detail, that says a lot. Why?  Why is it so crippling? Because of your thoughts and the lies your mind tells you. Your mind tells you you failed.  Your mind tells you
